Day 4 P90X Workout

Yesterday I woke up with enough time before the wedding to potentially do a work-out but I knew that today's Yoga-X was longer in length and the kinked vertebrae in my back that I have issues with sometimes was hurting, so I figured skipping the day as planned would be okay.

Tonight I did the next work-out on the Lean agenda: "Yoga-X." It's about 90 minutes in length and I have to admit that the first 45 minutes bored me as we kept with some of the same poses over and over while incorporating new elements to the standard ones. This isn't to say it wasn't difficult because believe me, I was covered in thin layers of sweat the whole first half and there were a few poses that required much more balance than I currently have. I attempted what I could but there were several in that last set that I just couldn't do. The last 45 minutes of the yoga was much easier and included more variety, and it primarily focused on holding posture/balance poses in areas that I do well in and ended with a few moments of meditation while in the Lotus position. I have to say that this was probably the first time I've actually really engaged in meditation of this nature and after the frustration that was on my mind today, it was great to have a few moments during Yoga X to try to clear my mind of negative thoughts.

I'm not overly excited to repeat this particular work-out each week just due to the length and lack of variation, but I definitely do feel more relaxed because of all the flexibility building poses and stretches. For any of you that are regular yoga practitioners, I will also add that many of the reviewers online felt the "yoga x" was not valid practice of real yoga so there might be some issues with your enjoyment of it as well. I'm sure the DVD will demonstrate rewards in flexibility and strength, but we'll see how I handle the full 90 minutes each week.

For the most part I feel like my eating has continued better than it could have even with guests, New Years, and a wedding.
