More good news: Congress passed a bill banning phthalates and lead from children's toys. However it goes before President Bush now, who is reported to be against the bill. Phthalates are chemicals which help plastics to be soft and are found in numerous products. They have been linked to numerous delays and disorders and seem to be especially impactful toward kids. Several studies have found phthalates to be present in the majority of Americans.

The law is also said to create a better reporting system for consumer complaints and to increase fines for safety concerns found in consumer products. Here's one for consumers...if only Bush will pass it.....
